……………………………………………………………………………………………

Here’s a quick overview/summary:
1,013 miles total
639 miles paved
374 miles of dirt

24 paved passes
16 easy dirt passes
10 hard dirt passes

And that’s being pretty liberal with the use of the word “hard”. The 10 counted as hard are:
Black Bear
Corkscrew
Hurricane
California
Engineer
Tomichi
Hancock
Tincup
Ptarmigan
Webster

I counted those 10 as hard for people that have never done them before. For those that ride these passes all the time, I think the only hard pass is Hancock. I’ve done it on an 1150 Adventure, but not without breaking a sweat and cursing a few times. I think this ride could be done on an 1150 GS Adventure. A smaller bike is just more fun.

I would recommend to people that want to attempt this ride but aren’t sure about it, to get out there and try Hancock on your bike, going both directions, before July 25th. That should be your litmus test. If you hate Hancock, you will probably hate this ride. And if you love Hancock, you might be bored with this ride…

I did this on my DRZ400. I’m a flatlander & would not try this on a BIG bike. If you can ride rocks & breathe in high altitude, then go for it.
Snow made me give up looking for Imogene Pass
